It is important to use the 'bonjour' appropriately. Failure to do so will only lead to confusion and disappointment. If you find yourself asking the bus driver three times if he stops at Saint Lazare with no response, it probably means you forgot to say, "Bonjour". If you cannot get a map of the cemetery at the entrance, it probably means you forgot to say, "Bonjour" to the attendant. If, on the other hand, you receive a scowling glare from a passer-by on the street, it probably means you SAID "Bonjour". Try not to misplace your bonjours. They are for use only in specific situations. When greeting a friend on the street, Bonjour is not necessary. Just kiss them twice!
